TIPS & HACKS FOR CAMPING YOU SHOULD KNOW

Camping is a summer activity that many people love. Even those who shun the great outdoors now have the option of “glamping,” a perfect combination of camping adventure and hotel luxury. No matter how “outside” you are, there is a camping option for you. From tough to pampered, check out my top tips for camping and preparing for your next trip. Although camping may seem like an easy and simple vacation, it takes a lot of planning to prepare. Sometimes more!

CAMPING TIPS: WHAT TO BRING

A tent!

Alternative object to study is the size of the tent. NEVER believe that the number of people indicated on the product will sleep comfortably in this tent. It is generally comfortable for about half of the people listed. My husband and I are big fans of the Coleman brand and LOVE our new tent. It says it sleeps 7, but we like that it’s a bit spacious for the two of us and our dog bed. If you necessity somewhat a little slighter, it’s also obtainable in a 4 person size.

An air mattress

You don’t want to sleep on the floor, believe me, I’ve been there. Not good. You also don’t want a mattress that deflates while you sleep, that was there too. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a quality air mattress; I recommend a double high for a better night’s sleep. Also be sure to include an air pump or whether you need to purchase one separately. Some of them plug into a car socket, while others use batteries. Make sure you are prepared anyway!

Good camping chairs

One of my best camping tips? Quality camping chairs are not overrated. I love mine and keep it in the back of my car most of the year. It’s great for concerts, picnics and travel! The best camping chairs are those that are made with a mesh back (for quick drying) and have armrests with cup holders. They’re even better when they’re lightweight and folded up into a nice carrying case. Take one. Or better yet, two.

A flashlight or lantern

It will be dark; And there is no electricity in the forest! Yes, I know your phone has a flashlight, which is great for emergencies… It’s best to have a light that you can clip or hang somewhere. This way you don’t have to hold it and you get the best amount of light, like this!

A candle lighter & an old newspaper

If you’re camping, you’ll want to make fires every night for warmth and cooking. Also, how else are you going to toast your s’ mores? The best things to bring to help start your fires are a lighter (it has a longer range and is easier to use than matches) and an old newspaper (to help light the wood). Dryer lint is also an excellent fire starter.

Experienced campers know that seasoned wood is best, so if it’s rained recently, you might want to buy some pre-cut wood from a nearby stand. If you can find wood, that’s the best; look for fallen tree branches or dead trees you can pick up, NOT live trees! Green wood does not burn well. If it’s going to rain, store your logs under a tarp or some sort of blanket to keep them dry. How far does the fire go in the building? My favorite method has always been the teepee.

Other helpful camping gear

Some other basic packing necessities (besides your personal belongings) include: hand sanitizer, sunscreen and repellent, sleeping bag AND warm blanket and pillow, paper towels, bags garbage…in the long run, you’ll find benefits. in a retractable awning, a rake (to clean the place), a shovel (to dig a trench around your tent in case of rain), a pocket knife, a plastic sheet and a rope.

Choose a campsite that fits your needs and camping experience.

The cheapest sites offer the bare minimum: an open floor space, a fire pit, and an outhouse if you’re lucky. This means that there is no running water or electricity.

Mid-tier sites are located near toilets connected to a sewer network and some have running water and/or electricity on site.

The more expensive sites, more for ‘glampers’  have cabanas or tents made with furniture.

Find the best for you! State parks (like Green Lakes) are a personal favorite and usually offer a variety of options.
